On July 7, 2026, the Society for the Analysis of Government and Economics (SAGE) hosted an online lecture entitled "The Role of Government in the Age of Deglobalization." This lecture was presented by Sheng Bin, Vice President of Nankai University, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Nankai University Committee, Director of the Organization Department and Dean of the School of Economics at Nankai University. Speaker Bio:
Sheng Bin is a "Distinguished Professor" and Doctoral Supervisor at Nankai University, having obtained his PhD in Economics. He currently serves as Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Nankai University Committee, Vice President, Director of the Organization Department and Dean of the School of Economics at Nankai University. Sheng has been recognized as a national expert with outstanding contributions and an expert receiving a special government allowance from the State Council. He is Member and Secretary-General of the Discipline Evaluation Group (Theoretical Economics) of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Deputy Director of the National Committee for Teaching Guidance of Professional Degree Graduate Students in International Business, and Convener of the Economics Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People's Government. Sheng also serves as Vice President of the China World Economics Society and Vice President of the China-American Economic Association. His main research areas include world economics, international trade, and international political economy, among other areas. He has received the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, the Ministry of Education's Excellent Young Teacher Support Program Award, the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Scientific Research (Humanities and Social Sciences) Outstanding Achievement Award, the China An Zijie International Trade Research Award, the Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation University Young Teacher Award, and the China World Economics Association President's Award (Pushan Award), alongside other accolades. He has published dozens of papers in authoritative journals such as China Economic Review, Social Sciences in China, Economic Research Journal, Management World, China Economic Quarterly, and The Journal of World Economy. His main representative work is 'Political and Economic Analysis of China's Foreign Trade Policy' (Shanghai Sanlian Bookstore and Shanghai People's Publishing House, 2002).
