On June 9, 2026, the Society for the Analysis of Government and Economics (SAGE) will host an online lecture entitled "Regulation and Governance of the Attention Economy." This lecture will be presented by Wang Yong, Tenured Professor at Tsinghua University's School of Social Sciences. Speaker Bio:
Wang Yong is a tenured professor, a doctoral supervisor, director of the Tsinghua BMW China Institute for Sustainable Development and Mobility Innovation and director of the School of Social Sciences' Digital Economy Research Center at Tsinghua University, in addition to serving in the role of chief expert for a major project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China. He also serves as Vice President of the Society of Chinese Commercial History and Head of its Corporate History Branch, as well as being a researcher at the Network Economy Research Center of Peking University. Wang received his PhD from Peking University's Guanghua School of Management, having previously completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University's Department of Economics and served as a Santander Visiting Scholar at Oxford University.
Wang's main research areas include game theory, digital economy, platform economy and firm theory. He has published over 70 academic papers in top-tier domestic and international journals, such as Economic Research Journal and Management World, many of which have been fully reprinted by Xinhua Digest, among others, having been ranked among the top 1% of highly cited scholars on CNKI China for many consecutive years in a row. He has published widely influential academic monographs, such as Fusion and Innovation (Springer Publishing) and Platform Governance. Wang has presided over multiple projects, including major projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Ministry of Education of China's Philosophy and Social Science Foundation, serving as a consulting expert for the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, along with other ministries, providing expert opinions on regulating the platform economy and mixed-ownership reforms to state-owned enterprises. He received Second Prize in the Ministry of Education's 9th round of the Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Humanities and Social Sciences), National First-Class Undergraduate Course Award, First Prize in the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, Second Prize in the Beijing Young Teachers' Teaching Competition, Tsinghua University Press Best Book Award, Tsinghua University Quality Course Award, and Tsinghua University General Education Honors Course Award, among many other awards and honors.
